Review: Johnson’s Natural Baby Products Blog Tour (6 comments)

September 1, 2010: Sensitive Skin runs rampant in my house. When my kids were babies they had a tendency to get rashes, eczema and other weird things on their skin. As they got older the sensitivity seems to go away for a bit, but as a precaution I try and use body products that will protect their skin. I don’t like products that have a lot of extra chemicals added in that could cause an allergic reaction or a bad rash. Treating the rashes are so difficult and take a long time to go away. I’d rather be proactive about it and use products that are better for them and as a bonus better for the environment.

I am a big fan of Johnson’s No More Tears so I was was happy to test their new line of Natural Products. As part of this review, we got to try:

  • Johnson’s Natural Baby Lotion
  • Johnson’s Natural HEAD-TO-TOE Foaming Baby Wash
  • Johnson’s Natural Baby Shampoo
  • Johnson’s Natural Kids 3-in-1 Shampoo Conditioner & Body Wash
  • Johnson’s Natural  Kids 2-in-1 Hand & Face Foaming Wash

My daughter is in love with all things Foamy. She recently spent about an hour squirting foaming anti-bacterial hand cleaner all over her body. I’m pretty sure she was the cleanest two year old you have ever seen. She also loves bubbles and I know that the foam reminds her of them, so that’s why she was entertained for so long.

When I gave her the Head-To-Toe Foaming baby wash to use in the bath tub, she was in heaven! I knew that both her and I were going to love this product, for different reason but it is great because we are testing products from a company that I already know and trust.

Some info about the new line:

Johnson’s new Natural product line provides a unique combination of 98% naturally derived ingredients, designed to cleanse, hydrate and nourish our baby’s skin. With the first-ever naturally derived No More Tears Formula – plus with no parabens, dyes, or essential oils – Johnson’s Natural foaming baby wash, shampoo and lotion prove gentle enough for newborns and “big kids” alike. And, with the 60% post-consumer recycled packaging, the products not only naturally work to nurture your child’s skin, but also help protect the environment.

So, if you are looking for a more natural product for your kids but want to stick with a company that you are already familiar with and trust their products for your family then check out the new Johnson’s Natural Products!

Disclosure: “I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by  Mom Central on behalf of Johnson’s and received the products necessary to  facilitate my review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me  for taking the time to participate.”

The only problem with this “natural” baby line is that if you check the ingredients, they aren’t all that different than your regular run of the mill cleanser. The packaging is pretty and looks “green” and all natural, but I was less than impressed after checking the label.

Interesting. I did not even think to compare products. So how can they claim for it to be all natural?

This is a good article addressing this question. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_natural :)

Thanks so much for clearing this up for me! I knew that it didn’t mean organic, but didn’t know that it just mean there weren’t any “fillers” and other stuff in there.

I wouldn’t trust it either. After I found out from someone that the “No More Tears” line worked by adding an ingredient that blocks tear ducts, I refuse to buy their products. I also heard (http://storyofstuff.org/cosmetics/) that there are no guidelines or expectations at all regarding cosmetics and skin care products so I am really making an effort to make my own “stuff”.

How are you making your own stuff, Jenn? I would be interested to see how your body products turn out. It is so much better knowing what goes onto your kids skin.
