MoMfeature Interview: Dagmar Breeden of Dagmar’s Goat Milk Bath and Body Products (5 comments)

Find out about the MoM behind the business: My name is Dagmar Breeden, I’m originally from Puerto Rico, currently living in Leavenworth, IN. I’m a Respiratory Therapist by profession, worked 15 yrs in Health Care field and start my business in July 2009. Currently I’m working from home Full Time.

Tell us about your family: My husband James, our son Jimmy and 2 step kids, Mariah and Sandreia.

What is your business and how did it get started? My business is Handmade Bath & Body products from Goat Milk: Soaps, Lotions and Face Cream. We are now adding to our line, Lip Balms and I’m working on Shampoo, Shaving Soap, Liquid Soap and more. I started my business, because I live in a little town in the country side of southern Indiana, where we have a farm with 82 acres and  lots of farmers around the area, so I decide that I can do something here. I said to myself, well I’m a country girl now, and I should do something handmade, something which I can use from some animal around, something natural. I started talking with a farmer friend, and she said to me, What about some Handmade Soap? It was like music to my ears, and that’s how my crazy experiments started!

Between Family and Work, what is your “typical” day look like? Hummm…. Typical Day, between Family, experimenting on my soap room, goats, milk, cleaning, cooking, taking care of Jimmy…… Ok, it’s bed time!! Now a day off, usually Sundays, I try to spend some quality time with the family, run around on the farm, watch a bit of TV, and go out and eat!!

What keeps you motivated? God First!! Second the love for my family and third the passion and devotion I have for my business!!

What are your biggest struggles with your business? Ahhhhh!! Wow!! Ok, It had to be trying to do everything myself and in the moment. I’m so impatient and always watching whoever is helping me, just in case…. You know!

And on the flip side, what is your biggest accomplishment? Being my own BOSS!! Wow! What a relief!! I was tired of the crazy and long shifts at the hospitals.

What advice do you have for other MoMs and DaDs in small business? Don’t give up!! If you really LOVE and have passion for your business, go for it all the way!! It’s not easy to have a business, that’s why not everybody has one, it takes a lot of sacrifice, time and headaches sometimes, but in the end it’s all worth it. Hard work pays!!

Do you have any long term goals for your business? Oh Yeah! I want to expand my line, I have lots of new ideas. I want my products all over the world! Everybody takes showers…. Right?

What are you three favorite websites? Besides mine and yours… LOL! Probably Facebook!!

Anything else you would like to add! Go green!! Give your skin the best!! Check out my Specials, Sales on my website, and Follow me on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and updates.

What ways can people get in touch with you? Dagmar@dgoatmilksoap.com, Contact page on our website, via Facebook and Twitter and stop by at home… just let me know!!
