May 18th, 2010: Have you ever thought about starting your own business or need some pointers on how to make your business thrive in our country’s recession? Tamara Monosoff has written a great new book called Your Million Dollar Dream for people who want to be their own boss, how come up with a business plan and turning your passion into profit!
Her book is aimed at people who are in all stages of starting their own business from coming up with an idea to how to market your product to others. There are several great chapters about how social media has changed the way that business owners get their product known by others and what you are missing if you aren’t apart of this type of marketing.
I love that she has stories from many different companies out there and how they got their start. There are also stories about how they are succeeding today. As I was reading, I found that Tamara has a connection with some of our MoMbusinesses and has recorded their stories in her book. I’m not going to spoil the fun and tell you who they are but you should definitely check out this book if you want to read about their beginnings and learn how to become your own boss but just don’t know quite where to begin!
There are also a ton of online resources that she mentions to help you figure out your financial situation, how to write press releases, examples of e-commerce, resources for green businesses, virtual receptionists and much more.
Although, I have already started my business over a year ago, there was a lot of viable information in the book that I can still use today to continue growing my business and staying on track with other business owners. It is great to know that I am marketing my business in the right way(using HARO and Twitter), but also to know that there are many other things that I could be doing (like Digg) to continue expanding my brand.
