Sarah O’Hara: Gift of the Fairy Wings by Penny Holguin: Book Review (0 comments)

March 25th, 2010: It was a day of irony in our house when this book arrived because the day before Luci had gotten her first pair of fairy wings. She was wearing them all around the house till I had to pry them off of her. Then Sarah O’Hara – Gift of the Fairy Wings arrived in the mail and she looked at me with a surprised look on her face like she had just put 2 and 2 together. She just realized that the book was about Fairy Wings. This coming from a very intuitive 2 year old. Well, that sealed the deal, we had to immediately stop whatever we were doing so that we could read this book!

Sarah O’Hara wants to be a fairy princess. She receives a magical pair of fairy wings for her sixth birthday. They make her the most popular girl in school, although far from a princess, when she bullies her classmate, Angela. Tragedy strikes and Sarah needs a friend. Angela sets her hurt feelings aside to help. Will Sarah realize that it takes more than a pair of wings to be a princess and become a more loving person?

Now, at 2, I am in the process of teaching my daughter different values and attributes like sharing, and being kind especially with a new little brother. Sarah O’Hara has a hard time with these traits early on in the story but at the end she learns that to be a loving and kind person, it takes more than just magical wings. Luci loved the story and all the brightly colored pictures. I think she will enjoy this book even more when she becomes school aged and has to interact with her peers. But it is never too early to start teaching our children, these important lessons!

Charmers Press is a very small publishing company with lots of heart and a vision to make the world a kinder place. Their first children’s picturebook, “Sarah O’Hara ~ Gift of the Fairy Wings” has been very well received and reviews have been outstanding.  They’re grateful to their fans and are reaching out for more. Please join them on our quest to make your kids the best they can be.

I also want to thank Penny Holguin for signing Luci’s book for her. She will cherish that signature for years to come when she knows that the Author herself wrote her a special message.
