REVIEW for Tot Yoga

(The following review was done as part of my membership in the Happy and Healthy Mom Product Review Team)

February 14th, 2010: Last week, I got a video from Tuesdays at Ten of a workout video geared towards Toddlers and Parents. It incorporates yoga moves that Parents and small children can do together. The idea for this video is a great way to teach your children how to follow directions and show them how important exercise is for their daily life.

I was a little skeptical at first of doing a workout dvd with my almost 2 year old, because her attention span is very short and she only follow directions sometimes. Boy was I surprised when the video catered toward this type of child. The first section of the video: Toddlers Teach Yoga – where parents learn to mimic their child’s natural movements to create simple stretching and strengthening poses. This was great because we crawled around on the floor and Luci thought that it was the best thing in the world that I was rolling around on the ground.

2. Parents Teach Yoga – parents learn how to engage a child between the ages of 10 months and 3 years in focused and relaxing playtime exercise. This was a good section because was I able to do some of the movements with and without Luci being totally engage if she didn’t want to but she is very hands on so she loved having me manipulate her movements.

3. Parent Yoga – parents follow a simple routine of strengthening and stretching poses intended to reduce stress and increase strength and flexibility. They say for the last section to do it when your child is sleeping or doing another activity and that is exactly what we did. By this time, Luci’s attention span has sent her into the other room where she probably wanted to watch Dora, so I let her and I was able to get in a few exercise uninterrupted.

Overall, this is a great parent /child video to get your kids into a daily habit of exercising and to get you as the parent ample time to do some relaxing moves. As a mom who just had a baby as well, it is great because it is low impact and allowed me to jump back into exercising at a slow pace.
