Our Newest Purchase (investment) from Target!
Hopefully, the new year will bring us one less child in diapers. I’ve been working with Luci on the concept of going pee pee on the potty for months now but have never enforced it. Up until the time Jacob was born, it was really no big deal and I knew that if I started potty training her before he was born she might just regressed and I would have to start all over again.
Buying 2 boxes at diapers the last time I went grocery shopping was the last straw and I realized that it was time to get her started on getting rid of the diapers. This past summer one of my friends was telling me how she potty trained her 3 boys around the age of 2 in a matter of a long weekend and rarely has had any accidents. I am going to take this approach with Luci and see how it goes. I have recently bought my last pack of size 5 crusiers and today purchase some lovely size 2T Tinkerbell panties from Target.
I am very excited to embark on this journey with Luci in about a week. I know that I will be cleaning up a lot of pee and poop but honestly I would rather do that then spend about 20 extra dollars every two weeks on diapers.
With this method, I am well aware that I have to be very proactive in order for this to successful, almost like training a dog, but I’m all for it.
Just out of curiosity, what other MoMs have done potty training this way because I do have a few questions:
What did you do for nap time and bed time? (note: I am not buying anymore diapers and will probably put down 4 or 5 towels on her bed but how often did your child get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Luci is still in a crib and I have no intentions of taking her out yet, so I’m just wondering what to do for when she is sleeping)
Did anyone potty train while also nursing another child? (Did you put your older child’s potty in the room that you were nursing or did you sit in the bathroom with the child?)
Tell me about your successes with this method of potty training because I am really excited to start doing this. And by the way, yes, I am crazy to be doing this with a newborn, but I’m so sick of buying and changing diapers for two. I would rather sit in the bathroom all day then change another stinky poopy diaper (newborn diapers are a breeze and smell great in comparison).
