Mommy Bags w/ MariLee from Christian Moms Business Resource (5 comments)

Hello, Living My Moment Moms! I’m so excited to connect with you here today! It has been fun getting to know Abbey the past few months and I was happy to respond to her request for guest bloggers. I’m originally from Ohio…(where Abbey lives now) so that was a quick connection for us. Now I live in northern Colorado with my husband and 2 1/2 year old son. I really miss Ohio (especially Rural Ohio) this time of year and I’m gearing up to head home for the holidays! I’m an author, freelance musician and work-from-home mom. I own a website called ReallyWorkingFromHome.com

I started working from home full time when I was pregnant with my son. I began to get really sick w/ the pregnancy and had to quit work. So I was praying and searching for ways that I could help pay the bills from home. It took quite a while to sift through the REAL opportunities from the scams. This year, I decided to create a website that would help moms find legitimate ways to work from home. I’m a Christian Mom and I’ve also had over 10 books published…so I really wanted to focus on Christian Resources and add the Freelance Writing aspect into it, too. This seems to be an online niche that hasn’t been fully explored yet. There are lots of Work-From-Home Moms sites out there, and there are several Christian Work-From-Home mom sites, too. But there aren’t many (if any) that focus on the Christian freelance writing aspect of working from home. I’ve also included sections on making money on ebay and etsy. And I’ve contracted with Dana Christensen of Everyday Economy to write articles specifically for ReallyWorkingFromHome.com about saving money on everyday household items and more. Dana is a mother of 5 (including 2 sets of twins!!)! She is a personal friend of mine and she knows how to manage her home WELL on 1 income! So, although the site is geared for the Christian mom…anyone who is looking to make some extra money from home will find “tried and true” ideas that work!

Aside from the great information you’ll find on ReallyWorkingFromHome.com, I offer PR and Ad spots to Christian Moms who own their own small business. I am really passionate about helping Moms work from home successfully and stepping into all that God has planned for them. I am a living, breathing example that it truly can be done…and I want to share that with other Moms! One of our most important benefits of the PR Package we offer is having your business included in the “Mommy Bags” we put together and distribute to Moms Groups, Churches and Craft Shows all over the United States! A Direct Mail campaign (such as the Welcome Wagon or ValuePak) usually costs small businesses thousands of dollars…but we INCLUDE this in our monthly fee at a very small cost for work-from-home moms! Mommy Bags contain freebies, samples, coupons, recipes, etc….from Christian Work-From-Home Moms. If you are interested in RECEIVING a Mommy Bag, just add our button to your blog (found on our blog at www.reallyworkingfromhome.blogspot.com) and I’ll send you one for free! Or you’re your Mom’s Group would like to receive an entire box of Mommy Bags, e-mail me at marilee@reallyworkingfromhome.com so that I can get you on the schedule!

I thought I would leave you with one of my family’s favorite holiday recipes…something I make every year to remind me of good old Ohio:

Extraordinary Ohio Buckeyes

1 cup creamy peanut butter

2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips

Toothpicks for dipping

1 stick butter

1¾ cups powdered sugar

Line cookie sheets with wax paper and set aside. Mix

peanut butter and butter until creamy. Add sugar a

little at a time. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Roll peanut

butter mixture into 1-inch balls. Place on wax paper

and freeze for 30 minutes or until firm. In microwave-safe

dish, melt chocolate chips in microwave on high

for 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat until chips are melted. Do

not scorch. Insert toothpicks into frozen peanut butter

balls and dip balls in chocolate. Let cool on wax paper.

Store in cool place. Makes about 100 buckeyes.

    Hi,

I loved reading your article about your website. I have a question. Is you site just for Christian moms who are at home of for all Christian moms? I am a Christian mom and I do have my own direct sales business that I do with my daughter but I work full time as well.

Love reading about MariLee!! That recipe sounds great, too. Will have to try it. I just baked your Swedish Coconut Cookies last night (http://www.mommyperks.com/vip/?p=3026). So good. They remind me of a cookie my mom would bake when we lived in Australia: called “Melting Moments.” Anyway, thanks for the feature, Abbey!! Keep up the good work.
