It’s A Balancing Act! (4 comments)

I know many people who run their own businesses or website always ask how to balance work and family. Me, on the other hand, needs to learn how to balance work and sleep. The last few days, my mind has been running about a million miles a minute trying to think of ways to improve my website so that I can continue to support my MoM businesses. I have been coming up with ideas left and right and even though I write them down (this helps me get them out of my head), it still doesn’t help. Full well knowing that I have to get up and be a MoM every morning around 8am, I make sure that I get to bed at a decent time and sleep so that I am prepared for the day and to work during nap time.

This is all a bunch of crap, because apparently when I’m sleeping my mind (not my unborn child kicking me in the bladder) decides to wake me up at 2:30 in the morning to think and ponder about what I need to work on next for this website. The other night I was up from 2:30-5:30 in the morning writing down ideas and working on the website. 5:30 in the morning! I kept telling myself not to worry about it and go back to sleep, but my brain had other things on its agenda for me.

So, when running a small business your work is never over, but in order to live a more peaceful and restful life, it’s ok to remember to put things on the backburner for your health and sanity. I would do anything for my family. Am so glad that my website is being heard. But the balance needs to come from within my head to figure out how to decompress self and work.

I thought watching as much reality tv as I do would help my shut down mode, but apparently it’s brings out the creativity in me. So the question, I ask is How do you turn your brain off at night?

try remembering and repeating this phrase several times during your day:
“LIVE FOR THE JOURNEY, NOT THE DESTINATION”
I recently started doing this and truly analyzed and understood this powerful message. I find that it helps to keep me grounded and it helps me to remember what’s really important in life. Even more amazingly, it brings out my creativity and it makes me less anxious about anything and everything. I sleep very well at night ;-)

    Try it!
Hope it will bring you the same peace it brings me.
Hugs and best wishes for more restful nights

    Books on tape!

It’s absolutely the ONLY way I can sleap at night anymore. I download a novel or even a great business book to my IPOD and I ususally fall asleep within 20 minutes. I can make a 16 hour book last for months so it’s very cost effective for me. The noise also drowns out my hubbie’s snoring :) ,

That’s an idea. I did read some Harry Potter last night and got a great night’s sleep, but I’ll have to look into books on tape.

Yeah, I tell myself that all the time, but apparently it doesn’t work when I’m sleeping. I’m gonna keep saying it over and over again to make sure my brain understands what the rest of me is thinking.
